MisterMiceGuy is a Honors Behavioral Neuroscience Student and Residential Counselor. MisterMiceGuy will graduate in 2020 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Psychobiology. He will start a PhD program in Psychology in the fall of 2020 where he will specialize in Behavioral Neuroendocrinology. His research interests include the Hypthalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) Axis, Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) Axis, sympathoadrenomedullary (SAM) system, altered stress responses, the development of domestic phenotypes, and animal husbandry.
The research that MisterMiceGuy is pursuing is considered comparative science. This means that animal models such as rats and mice are used in research to better understand human physiology, morphology, cognition and behavior. Cognitions are a fancy term for our thoughts and behavior is anything that we do that others can observe and measure. Both of these can be influenced by learning experiences and genetics. The term physiology refers to the physical shape and form of animal and morphology refers to system functions within the individual.
MisterMiceGuy is passionate about these topics and wants to educate and foster interest in these areas. To that end MisterMiceGuy is a hobby breeder of fancy mice and produces videos and social media posts intended for the purpose of education and amusement.
The MisterMiceGuy Home Lab consists of multiple enclosures housed on a utility shelf for a home lab style setup. Some of the enclosures are custom made laboratory style enclosures used for pairs or nursing mothers. In addition to the small enclosures there are 4 glass aquariums used for colony breeding systems. MisterMiceGuy uses kiln-dried pine bedding and Mazuri Rat & Mouse Diet.
All mice are also treated for internal and external parasites using Selamectin and Ivermectin applied topically as well as Fenbendazole administered orally. Periodically MisterMiceGuy has mouse pups for sale and more information on that is listed on the Available page.
